World Team Foundation is a new organization created by World Team to provide and promote new sources of funding for calling, equipping, and sending Christian missionaries to unreached people around the World.
World Team has been actively engaged in global Christian missions for more than 140 years. During most of the history of the agency, funding for missionaries has been primarily accomplished through direct partnerships with the local church.
Missionaries are called by God through the local church, and funding for their work has been accomplished primarily through direct appeal by the called missionary to the local church attenders, family members and friends who share their passion for sharing Christ with the unreached.
Although World Team fully believes that this model will continue into the foreseeable future, we also see an opportunity to build a separate organization, World Team Foundation, where alternative fundraising sources can be acquired, developed, and utilized to support fielded missionaries and create long-term sustainability for World Team.
Going forward, the local church will continue to be regarded as the primary catalyst for the sharing of the gospel locally, regionally, and globally, and missionaries will continue to bear the burden of raising their own funding through direct contact with local church attenders.
However, developing financial support in this traditional way has become increasingly difficult for a variety of reasons. This challenge, coupled with the primacy of Christ’s Great Commission, is prompting agencies like World Team to identify and adopt alternative revenue sources to support global missions.
